Audits, Community Pulse insights, and activation work that turns precincts into places people actually use.

/ About

We’re Outlier Skate.
A specialist skatepark and precinct advisory team helping councils turn audits, community insight and upgrade planning into safer, better-used public spaces.

Most skatepark fail for one simple reason: they’re designed without evidence of real use

Why? Because “feedback” often isn’t specific enough to design from and the loudest voices don’t represent the whole precinct.

Skateparks aren’t just skateparks. They’re shared community assets used by riders, families, walkers and sport users and each group experiences the space differently.

That’s why we combine standards-based audits with Community Pulse our Ride / Use / Play engagement tool that captures real behaviour (including ride-line tracing), priorities and practical design inputs.

If you’re planning an upgrade, a new build or a network plan, you don’t need more opinions – you need decision-ready insight and a clear path to action.

Why skateparks and why now

You don’t have to care about your local skate park to care about your local youth.

Skateparks are more than concrete.

They’re youth precincts - places to meet, be safe, build confidence, and belong. Participation is rising and expectations are changing (multi-disciplinary use, wider age ranges, higher safety demands).

Without strategic oversight, ageing facilities drift from community hubs into liabilities.

What councils get from Outlier Skate

In practice, councils work with us to move from opinions to evidence – and from reactive fixes to planned, defensible decisions.

  • Evidence-based decisions: Clear “state of the asset” view with prioritised actions.
  • Risk & liability mitigation: Standards-aligned audits and early identification of pinch points.
  • Extended asset life: Targeted interventions and planned renewal cycles (not emergency rebuilds).
  • Inclusive by design: Safer for beginners, females and neurodivergent users; better shared-space outcomes.
  • Grant readiness: Decision packs and business cases that support funding applications.

Bottom line: safer parks, smarter investment, and precincts that communities actually use.
